Training Standards The UIAA wants to encourage good practice in the training of voluntary mountaineering leaders and instructors. Therefore we have developed the UIAA Training Standards for our member associations. With the UIAA Training Label, the associations can prove that their training and assessment schemes have been independently examined by a UIAA expert and endorsed by an international panel. This makes it possible for mountaineers from different countries to recognise each other’s qualifications. The Training Standards are managed by the members of the Training Standards Working Group (see list of members as part of Mountaineering Commission). StandardsThe UIAA Mountaineering Commission developed Model Training Standards for Voluntary Leaders and Instructors in response to requests from Member Associations for guidance on widely accepted good practice and standards for training schemes. Applying for standards If your federation would like to apply for the Training Label please read the requirements for meeting the standards, fill out the application form and/or contact the Training Standards Working Group. Bi-annual seminar The UIAA Training Standards Working Group organises a bi-annual seminar to explore issues of common interest about training and assessment of mountain leaders and instructors. Read more about the successful 2011 seminar. Read more about the successful 2008 seminar. |
