Rules and Regulations

UIAA Ice Climbing competitions are organised as per the UIAA Ice Climbing Rules & Regulations handbook. The rules and regulations are approved and enforced by the International Commission for Ice Climbing Competitions. These rules include both aspects for the athletes as well as the organisers of the events.

As per UIAA Ice Climbing Rules & Regulations, athletes wishing to compete in Ice Climbing World Cup and World Championship competitions are required to obtain the ICICC International Licence. The athletes can download the UIAA-ICICC International Licence application form from the right-hand panel in order to obtain the required licence to take part in these competitions.

 

Note:

2012: There is a new amendment for Ice Climbing Speed Competitions.

 

2011: There is a new amendment for Ice Climbing Speed Competitions.

2010: The Lead and Speed regulations were modified. Please read  the following document carefully.

2009: Spurs and back parts of crampons will not be allowed in lead competitions in the 2009 season -  please check the rules.

Ice Climbing Commission

UIAA’s Ice Climbing Commission is responsible for framing the rules and regulations for Ice Climbing competitions. It also ensures quality of the competitions as per UIAA terms and standards. Learn more
