On this page we will post information about events organised by our member organisations and other partners.

If your federation is organising an event and would like to invite mountaineers from all over the world, contact us and we will spread the word!

If you are under 30 years old, don't forget to check out the Youth calendar for expeditions, treks, ski mountaineering and climbing camps etc.

4th Seoul International Bouldering competition

The Seoul Alpine Federation is organising the 4th Seoul International Bouldering competition, the Black Yak cup, 12th – 13th  April 2008. National federations are invited to enter their athletes. Each Country can bring an unlimited number of male and female bouldering competitors, and 2 officials (Team Manager & Coach). The  deadline for registration is 4th  April 2008. There will be free accommodation at the Seoul Youth Hostel and no registration fee will be charged.

Red Fox Elbrus Race festival
This is a unique event for the real sportsmen and women. The climb to the West Elbrus Peak is one of the world's most popular runs to high summits and mountain Marathon races. The main challenge lays in the mixed race route: snow, ice and great altitude. Reaching the Elbrus peak is not for all climbers. It’s the most complex physical-testing lap of the race. Participants: climbers, mountaineers and experienced multisportspeople.Organised by the Russian Mountaineering Federation and the Red Fox company. The programme includes a high-speed run to the Elbrus Peak, snow-shoes race and ski-mountaineering competitions.Those who want to take part, should download the race regulations  and register by e-mail

Winter meet in South Africa
The KwaZulu-Natal Section of the Mountain Club of South Africa is inviting you to a Winter meet, taking place in Drakensberg, South Africa from the .The objective is to introduce the participants to Africa and its premier ice climbing venue, Giant’s Castle, which is located in the Drakensberg.The programme is still to be finalised and will be forwarded to participants in June 2008.  However, five days will be spent in the Drakensberg at Giant’s Castle. It is an eight hour walk in with full ice gear, food and tent on your back at 3000m above sea level. So you must be fit! Participants will also get to climb at some of KwaZulu-Natal’s premier rock climbing venues, swim in the Indian Ocean and sight see.

Time: 5 to 13 July 2008
Cost: 100 British Pounds
Who:  Ice climbers. General fitness required

Open Russian mountaineering championship, Caucasus
"The Russian Mountaineering Federation (RMF), together with the Russian outdoors company RedFox, will organise a big festival of mountaineering and extreme sports. Leading athletes of rock-climbing, mountaineering, base-jumping and hill running will take part in the festival. The biggest event of the Festival will be the Open Russian mountaineering championship, including an Open Women Team's Cup. The athletes will compete on the most popular peaks of the  Western Caucasus:  Dalar, Dolomite and Kirpitch (Brick). "
Time: 11 July - 30 July 2008
Place: The gorge of Uzunkol, in the Caucasus.
Who: Female climbers from all over the world are invited to take part in the RMF's first Open Women's Cup. Each team shall consist of 2-3 athletes, and one person as a team representative. Each team can choose routes appropriate for their technical and physical level.
For the Men's championship, the organisers invite athletes from Russia, the CIS, the European countries and the Americas. Each team can have 2-4 members and a leader.

International Climber's meet, Utah, United States
"Indian Creek is home to the world's best crack climbing. During the meet's weeklong run, climbers from climbing clubs and mountaineering federations throughout the world will come together to share in the unique experience of Indian Creek crack climbing. American Alpine Club host climbers will give the visiting climbers the grand tour of the Creek, from the tasty tips cracks to the gnarly offwidths—there will be challenges for everyone, plus tons of food and more than one wild party. This is one event you won't want to miss!"
Time: 3-14 October 2008
Place: Indian Creek, Utah
Who: Two (one male and one female) young climbers from each country. Minimum qualifications: Must be able to lead  a UIAA VII- , 5.10, E2, or French 6b.
Cost:  Registration fee: $100. Visiting climbers are responsible for air travel expenses to and from Denver International Airport and their meals while not at Indian Creek. Other expenses are covered by AAC.
