Legal Experts Working GroupThe Legal Experts Working Group has members from many different countries and functions as a forum on legal issues related to mountaineering and climbing. Please click here for a list of the members of the working group and which federations or countries they represent. Currently the working group is discussing the role of expert witnesses in trials related to mountain sports. We exchange knowledge and are building up a database of reports of legal cases from different countries.
The Working Group has prepared a summary of Current Liability Issues Relating to Mountain Sports which you can download here. The working group also contributes to several debates within the UIAA: This includes the discussion on the use of performance enhancing medicines in mountaineering and education policies on Anti-doping. We also work on the right to enjoy mountain sports and arrange seminars on issues such as environment law. If you have questions about legal issues or would like to make us aware of problematic areas or court cases in your country, please contact us.
