Global Youth Summit events to be held in Italy, Russia and France

Be sure to check out the various youth camps being organized by UIAA member federations of Italy, Ukraine and France in the summer as Global Youth Summit Events.

International Youth Climbing Camp, Ariège, France

Sissone Valley, Italy (July 1 – 7): The deadline for the registration of this GYS event is on 30 April 2012 and it is perfect for youth aged between 10 years to 14 years. Located in the beautiful Sondrio region of Italy in Valmalenco, the event is hosted by Club Alpine Italiano (CAI). Children stay in the “Gerly Porro” Hut (1960 metres) and have the opportunity to explore this fascinating mountain landscape including the mining region of the Sissone Valley. Organizers say this is a chance to share the mountains, techniques and experiences with participants from many different countries and eat delicious Italian food!

Mt Elbrus, Russia (July 9 -20): UIAA member federation, the Ukrainian Mountaineering and Climbing Federation (UMCF), is organizing an International Youth Expedition to Mount Elbrus in the Caucasus for aged 18 years to 30 years. Mount Elbrus (5642 metres) is the highest peak in the Caucasus and Europe and is a dream mountain for many with beautiful panoramas and more than 20 glaciers.

Ariège, France (July 7 – 12): The French Alpine Club (FFCAM) runs a successful and popular UIAA Global Youth Summit international youth climbing meet in Ariège, France for youths aged 16 years to 22 years.  The meet takes place in the French Pyrenees and participants learn and experience a variety of climbing styles, single to multi pitch and big wall on different types of rock, granite and limestone.
