UIAA to provide free accommodation for athletes during first Youth Ice Climbing World Championship

The UIAA, as part of its continuing efforts to promote the sport of ice climbing and youth engagement, will subsidize the expenses of athletes from member federations interested in participating in the first Youth Ice Climbing World Championship in Saas Grund, Switzerland 12 - 13 January 2013.


Accomodation

The UIAA will pay for the accommodation for all athletes for two nights between Friday and Sunday during the event at the Rosenheim Hause (http://www.behuetet-reisen.de/unterkunft-in-saas-grund.html). Athletes who wish to stay here to request it when they fill out their license application.

  • Athletes can book their own accomodation at the hotel of their choice but the UIAA will not cover the costs.
  • Parents and coaches can also stay at the Rosenheim Hause, but they have to book directly.

Competition

The Lead and Speed competition takes place 12 – 13 January 2013 with the Lead event on Saturday and Speed event on Sunday.

There are two categories for boys and girls:

  • Under 17 years (born 1996 - 1999)
  • 18 - 21 years (born 1995 - 1992)

Three different rankings will occur in Saas Grund:

  • Individual ranking
  • Discipline team ranking
  • Overall team ranking

Registration starts on 1 December at www.theuiaa.org.  There is no license fee.
