Mountain Ethics Declaration
The UIAA General Assembly has approved a code to serve as a beacon of mountaineering values, spelling out ethics of sportsmanship, respect for cultures and care for the environment. Read more

Arbitration Court Other significant decisions taken at the 2009 General Assembly in Porto, Portugal included the formation of the UIAA Arbitration Court. Read more

Anchor corrosion
Disturbed by recent accidents caused by fixed anchors that failed, the UIAA Safety Commission is warning climbers to be extremely vigiliant in checking for corrosion on anchors in tropical, marine environments. Read more

Tibet
A Japanese climbing team is raising awareness of permit issues in a sensitive border area in Tibet after being turned back by local people from making a first-ascent attempt on Bugyai Kangri (6,328m). Read more
