Olympic Movement

The UIAA belongs to the group of International Federations who agree to be guided by the Olympic Charter and who recognise the authority of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

An essential part of the UIAA’s work, as defined in our Mission Statement, is to support youth participation in mountaineering, climbing and ice climbing competitions.

The UIAA recognises Ice Climbing as a competitive sport and is responsible for organisation and promotion of the Ice Climbing World Cup and International Championships.

Our vision is to have Ice Climbing included in the Winter Olympic Games and to develop new competition sports.

Competition Sport

UIAA ice climbers compete in international events such as the World Cup, the World Championship and continental championships. The UIAA pursues the development of new competition sports, and is committed to fair play, Anti Doping and the protection of the environment. Read more

SportAccord

The SportAccord, formerly known as GAISF, is a forum for sports organisations. It promotes closer links between its members, and co-ordinates and protects their common interests. The UIAA is the member for mountaineering sports.

International Olympic Committee
