SUMMARY:2025 Youth Ice Climbing Camp
DESCRIPTION:The UIAA Youth Commission has confirmed details of its first event for 2025. \nThe popular annual Ice Climbing Camp in Guillestre\, Hautes Alpes (France) will be held from 23 February – 1 March. \nThe main goal of this ice climbing camp is to allow youngsters to practice many forms of ice climbing – single pitch\, or routes with multiple pitches\, and also how to manage training. The camp is open to international climbers aged between 16 and 26. DESCRIPTION:The UIAA Safety Commission will host a UIAA Safety Commission World Congress from Sunday 13 April to Thursday 17 April. As part of the event\, SafeCom will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its existence as a UIAA Commission. \nThe event will take place in Chamonix\, France and comprises SafeCom internal and plenary meetings\, working group meetings\, a re(bolting) workshop\, public conferences as well as other events to be organised with co-hosts FFCAM (la Fédération française des clubs alpins et de montagne) and ENSA (National School of Skiing and Mountaineering) \nPerhaps most significantly there will be two public events\, under the guise ‘UIAA SafeCom World Congress’ on the evening of Tuesday 15 April and Wednesday 16 April.  These are being organised in close collaboration with ENSM\, National School of Skiing and Mountaineering of France (Ecole Nationale des Sports de Montagne)\, and will take place at ENSA’s (Ecole Nationale de Ski et d’Alpinisme) HQ. \nAcross both evenings there will be a presentation of the UIAA’s work and heritage in climber safety as well as contributions from ENSA and from FFCAM\, la Fédération française des clubs alpins et de montagne\, a founder member of the UIAA and a close supporter of the event. SUMMARY:Oh My Bloc 2025
DESCRIPTION:Oh My Bloc is a bouldering festival\, held in Milly-la-Forêt (France)\, aiming to inform and educate climbers who are as passionate as we are about climbing in an environmentally-friendly way. We’re delighted that the passion for bouldering is contagious\, and in a magical forest\, we have to adapt our gym routines to a shared and fragile natural environment. \n\n\nThere will be rock climbing in a natural environment\, of course\, with adult and children’s competitions and introductory courses. There will also be a magnificent final on our newly-covered bouldering wall. DESCRIPTION:The location for the Mountaineering Ireland Summer Alpine Meet this year is Argentière\, Chamonix\, France. This region is perfectly suited to trekking\, hiking\, climbing and mountaineering\, as well as many other outdoor activities. \nThis Meet is for walkers\, rock climbers\, and mountaineers of all ages and abilities. It is a wonderful opportunity for all Mountaineering Ireland members\, new and old to meet established friends and make new ones\, go walking\, mountaineering and climbing in some of France’s most beautiful scenery. The purpose is to gather like-minded people together in an alpine area where they can walk\, rock climb\, boulder and climb snow covered and rocky alpine peaks. The main emphasis of the meet is to have fun! \nClosing date for booking is 30 April 2025. \nThere is a 10% reduction on some courses booked before 30th March 2025. \nThere is a 10% reduction on some youth (age 18 – 26) courses booked before 30th April 2025. \nFor further information and to help you decide which course is right for you\, please see the Alpine Meet 2025 Information Pack on our website.
