The UIAA is confirming a number of updates to its previous communication (16 October) regarding the calendar for the 2019-2020 UIAA Ice Climbing World Tour.
There will now be three World Cups, not four. The event in Moscow, scheduled for 20-22 December (World Cup and World Youth Combined Championships) has been cancelled.
As communicated on 16 October, there will be no North American World Cup in 2019-2020. A North American World Cup(s) is now forecast for 2020-2021. The Ice Climbing showcase scheduled for the 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne has been cancelled.
Information pages for all World Cup events are available. Programmes and schedules will also be made available. The Athlete’s Handbook can be downloaded here.
The UIAA has also created a calendar of international ice climbing events and festivals. Organisers are encouraged to register their events; ice climbers can use the resource to discover festival locations. The calendar can be viewed here: https://www.theuiaa.org/rock-ice-climbing-event-calendar/
