With a new innovative concept, Europe’s largest outdoor trade fair, OutDoor by ISPO, took place in Munich for the first time from 30 June to 3 July, 2019.

As a global organisation operating in the outdoor environment, the UIAA is a regular presence at ISPO events. This year, a delegation from the UIAA took the opportunity to network with representatives of member associations, brands, sponsors and UIAA Safety Label holders.

With an increasing number of manufacturers focusing on promoting sustainable values as well as sustainable products and production, the UIAA is well positioned to present its initiatives and expertise in this area, notably the new format of the worldwide Respect the Mountains Series (see supporting article). Following on from last month’s Safety Commission meeting in Malta, the UIAA Safety Label team was able to evolve discussions with manufacturers on the subject of certified equipment and increased misuse of the UIAA Safety Label (see dedicated article). The team also focused on presenting the latest progress in the UIAA’s Anchor Corrosion research, a project which can now be supported through the recently-launched UIAA Donate page.

Meeting representatives of World Tour title sponsor Outdoor Research, the UIAA Ice Climbing team discussed the calendar for the upcoming season (to be published shortly), new innovations and reported on the communication and marketing figures for the 2018-2019 season. The UIAA also met with potential technical partners and suppliers.

OutDoor by ISPO is not just an annual trade show, but for a year-long, integrative and cross-media platform for an audience of international industry experts. To discover more click here.
