MEMBERS INVITED TO SHARE BEST PRACTICES

General Assembly

UIAA President Frits Vrijlandt has shared the following message with UIAA member associations ahead of this year’s General Assembly.

The reason for contacting you is my wish to highlight your association’s work at the upcoming UIAA General Assembly (GA) on 23-24 October 2020. Through our digital magazine, communication channels and during the online sessions of this year’s GA, we would like to shine the spotlight our valued member associations.

We are aware of the tremendous effort and time your staff and volunteers invest into various aspects of climbing and mountaineering. Sharing details of your best practices and successful projects could benefit other UIAA members and vice versa. Perhaps your association will pick up an idea of your own. Please use the Best Practices Questionnaire to tell us about one project your association is particularly proud of. We will use the information to present some case studies at the 2020 UIAA General Assembly and assure your work is duly recognised.

In the same spirit, all UIAA member associations pledged their support of the Climate Change Initiative presented at the 2019 General Assembly by the German Alpine Club (DAV). Whilst the UIAA will present its own progress and efforts at the upcoming GA, we wish to use the same occasion to highlight some of the most inspiring and impactful climate action initiatives of our members. Please use the Climate Change Initiative Questionnaire to tell us about your association’s efforts to combat climate change. We will use the information to present both international and national efforts towards our common goal at the General Assembly.

Lastly, I wish to thank you in advance for the numerous days and months that you and your staff and members dedicate to developing and innovating the world of climbing and mountaineering. I’m looking forward to reading and hearing more about your best practices and sharing them with the wider mountaineering family this October.
