FRANCE: LIMIT YOUR ACTIVITIES

UIAA

The following message comes from Nicolas Raynaud, President of FFCAM – Fédération française des clubs alpins et de montagne (FFCAM) – a UIAA founding member. It was addressed to FFCAM membership via the federation’s website.

In order to help healthcare professionals and allow the various hospital services (emergency, resuscitation, etc.) to be fully available to treat people with COVID-19, the FFCAM asks all its licensees and more broadly to all practitioners strongly limit their activities in the mountains and induced risk-taking, in particular in ski touring, mountaineering, and climbing.

During this complicated time for all of us, we must strictly adhere to government guidelines and measures. The shelters must also be reserved for any people in distress.

The effort required of all is necessary. Solidarity, mutual aid, renunciation, the spirit of a rope, are values dear to all lovers of the mountains.
